Sketchbook

Jean Royle’s sketchbooks give an insight into her process of constructing a composition.  She learnt from her father, Stanley Royle the landscape painter, the value of notations on the actual sketches and the necessity of preliminary sketches of the subject.  These sketchbooks were compiled mainly in the 1970s and 1980s. Click on an image for the larger view or to see related images.
